Raymond Berthelot

Poetry

Hair Punch

Hair punch mule dog

it’s not what you think

I’ve been to Belgium once

once between meals

but that’s not really true either

the last drop of butter

on her tongue, as independent as draft

fashioned after the bull

I’ve come to both love and hate

as much as the joy outside this window

[insert the above poem here]

and I, I’m still here

as are you

but not you, nor you for that matter

exactly who was He addressing

when He said, “Take this, all of you,”

take this

you know the rest
