Melissa Garcia: “I am a Mexican American artist who has been exploring the visual representation of dementia through the erasure of individuals. My focused mediums are oil paint and acrylic inks which are used on canvas or Yupo paper. I use these materials as a way to demonstrate subtractive and additive elements that are reminiscent of irregular patterns of recognition within the stages of dementia.”
